Skoll Foundation Honors Social Entrepreneurs
Eleven non-profit organizations that have made it big in the social entrepreneurial scene and have been making dramatic changes were included by the Skoll Foundation as part of their global portfolio of change movers. These social enterprises have strongly advocated tolerance and human rights, health, environmental sustainability, peace and security, and economic and social equity.
In recognition of their efforts, each organization was given a $1 million grant for a three-year scheme so that they could continue their social development programs. The following organizations are:
- Amazon Conservation Team
- American Council on Renewable Energy
- Arzu
- Digital Divide Data
- Half the Sky Foundation
- KIVA
- Mothers2Mothers
- Partners in Health
- PeaceWorks Foundation
- Population and Community Development Association
- Visayan Forum Foundation
Social entrepreneurship may be a new venture in philanthropy but its following is increasing in its base and more people are getting hold of it. Skoll Foundation recognizes the power of social entrepreneurship and the possible gain that can be made if more people are given more opportunities to excel and in turn, create a social reaction that can potentially change the world for the better.
With all this, it is readily apparent that Skoll wants to open more doors instead of just windows so that people can come in.
