Poker Slang: ‘On a Rush’

There’s nowhere better to be in a game of online poker than ‘on a rush.’ As the term implies, a ‘rush’ in Hold ‘em or another other poker online variation is when a player has won several or many hands in a row. They may accumulate a lot of chips in a hurry or make a lot of cash via several hands. A lot of players, when finding themselves on a rush will start to player a wider variety of hands, in the perhaps superstitious belief that the sheer face that they are rushing will help them win money even with junk casino hands. While sometimes a player on a rush is someone who should be avoided, as their luck seems to sweep them over the edge of all math, another school of thought would say that manipulating a player who thinks he’s found himself on a rush is a good time to strike on them, as they will be more confident in their action and probably playing a wider range of weak hands in the idea that they can make anything work. At the same time, though, certain rushes will uncannily make players take down pots against extreme odds, though once again its more a matter of numbers than it is luck or will, most would say. Still, if you can find yourself on a rush, you’re probably a happy camper.
