Since an Ace is the highest ranked card in online poker, players frequently bet with it, especially when it pairs with the board. A player with an Ace in hand who pairs it with the board could be holding the best poker online hand. The strength of the paired Ace is also dependent on the kicker card, whether it is suited, and one’s position in the betting order. If you are in early position or in late position, with only checking ahead, then betting the paired Ace is good, aggressive move to make. You might win the pot right there, or at lease narrow the field of opponents. When in late poker online position with a bet ahead of you, then you have to consider your opposition and your own position. Does this player pursue loose aggressive betting or usually play tight? A bet from a tight player probably indicates you are up against another Ace. If the raise comes from either of the blinds, you could be up against anything. It’s possible that player holds a 7-2 and the board materializes as A-7-2. In all probability a bet ahead of you means you are up against another Ace, so you must consider the strength of your kicker. If there has been a raise and calling ahead of you, then recognize another player is holding an Ace also, or may have flopped two pairs or a set. Proceed with caution based on what you know about the bettor’s style and the strength of your kicker.
