As a poker player, it’s hard to keep your starting online poker hand standards and stay flexible. You need to adjust your play to the personality of the table that you’re playing, and you also want to vary your play to keep your opponents from recognizing your style and reading your hands. After one of the few poker online hands where I’ll vary my play to keep the table in the dark about me, I’ll find myself betting into a hand with similar hole cards a few hands later. Before I know it, I’m pot committed with a hand that can’t possibly win. The best thing you can do to avoid letting your standards slide is to set a standard and stick to it. Pick the absolute worst hands that you’ll play from early, middle and late position, and don’t stray from it unless you’re making a conscious decision to.

Since an Ace is the highest ranked card in online poker, players frequently bet with it, especially when it pairs with the board. A player with an Ace in hand who pairs it with the board could be holding the best poker online hand. The strength of the paired Ace is also dependent on the kicker card, whether it is suited, and one’s position in the betting order. If you are in early position or in late position, with only checking ahead, then betting the paired Ace is good, aggressive move to make. You might win the pot right there, or at lease narrow the field of opponents. When in late poker online position with a bet ahead of you, then you have to consider your opposition and your own position. Does this player pursue loose aggressive betting or usually play tight? A bet from a tight player probably indicates you are up against another Ace. If the raise comes from either of the blinds, you could be up against anything. It’s possible that player holds a 7-2 and the board materializes as A-7-2. In all probability a bet ahead of you means you are up against another Ace, so you must consider the strength of your kicker. If there has been a raise and calling ahead of you, then recognize another player is holding an Ace also, or may have flopped two pairs or a set. Proceed with caution based on what you know about the bettor’s style and the strength of your kicker.

To each is own for sure. If you look at just about any online poker site out there you see that they all tend to have loyalty programs and VIP style points. There’s nowhere better to be in a game of online poker than ‘on a rush.’ As the term implies, a ‘rush’ in Hold ‘em or another other poker online variation is when a player has won several or many hands in a row. Unfortunately, the government of South Africa is joining several other online poker firms around the world in the stupid attempt to hinder its residents from playing casino online and online poker. The government has reportedly considered whether it should impose restrictions to online gambling sites. According to Business Day, under the proposed regulations, which were published in the Government Gazette for public comment in February, any operator that works illegally will not be allowed to apply for a license. Neither would it be permitted to advertise its services. Under the proposed regulations South Africans wanting to play online will have to open a nominated account with any South African bank which will be used solely for online gaming. Only credit cards can be used to make payments and the accounts will have to adhere to normal banking and Financial Intelligence Centre Act requirements. While many website are based offshore but available to South Africans, the government faces the challenge of how regulate foreign operators and how to make local operation competitive with those in less regulated and lower taxed regions I oppose any law or regulation that makes it harder for people anywhere in the world to play online poker. We must remain vigilant and support our right to play. Ours is a just cause!
